Rev. Mike KrewsonScout Sunday

Many of us at St. Philip’s have been a part of the Scout movement started by social worker Robert Baden-Powell on January 24, 1908.

In an attempt to lift the quality of life for people and emphasize the importance of morality and good deeds, the program has had a positive influence on millions.

There are 12 principles a Scout lives by which are synthesized into the Scout Law. Scouts regularly recite the law as a reminder to keep these values uppermost. The law states:

“A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.”

One of many important lessons incorporated in the Scouting program is the importance of values.

In light of the last of the 12 principles, we remind each other that Scout Sunday will be celebrated this year in the St. Louis Area on February 9, 2020. If your uniform still fits and you’d like to wear it to church, feel free to do so and to tell why you appreciate the Boy Scouting Program.

You can find lots of information about the program at the following websites:

There is an excellent Religious Emblems Awards Program as well which you can find on www.scouting.org.
