What are We Learning
Literacy
We will review the letters O, P, and Q this month. We will read “Octopus Stew,” read “The Runaway Heart,” “Q Is A Funny Letter,” and review rhyming words.
Math
The children lace beads on numbers octopuses, graph conversation hearts, sort money, color by shape, and measure penguins.
Physical
For fine motor, we will write in oatmeal writing trays, lace hearts, and make quarter rubbings. For gross motor, the children will do Heart Healthy Exercises, play Musical Hearts, and Cat In The Hat Balloon Toss.
Science
The first of week we will be talking about Dental Health. Dr. Lang is a dentist who has been visiting St. Philip’s ECC for years. He talks with the children about what we need to do to take care of our teeth and what foods are healthy for our teeth. We will also make a “Tooth Person,” count marshmallow teeth, and practice brushing teeth with a tooth model.
Social/Emotional
The children will have a Valentine Exchange during their party! We will also talk about what a President does and make up our own Class Oath, and play Green Eggs on The Ground.
