From the Pastor's Desk
Rev. Mike Krewson

Farewell

As this month begins, I will be retiring after more than 38 years as an active settled pastor. Those years have taken me to Levasy, MO, Defiance, MO, DuQuoin, IL, Edwardsville, IL, Florissant, MO, and then, four years ago, to South St. Louis County.

These past four years have been filled with many blessings and challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic which has hurt churches and organizations all across our society and world. Through it all, we worked to keep our congregation strong, and through creativity and being flexible have achieved a good measure of success. It has been a joy!

The next few months will again be a time of change and uncertainty. Associate Conference Minister Damien Lake will be leading worship on Sunday, September 11, and the Church Council is working with him to make plans for pastoral leadership during this transition. Please keep the Church Council in your prayers.

The ethics of my profession prevent me from inhibiting the ministry of St. Philip’s leaders going forward. I will decline invitations to provide pastoral care as a part of my covenant in the United Church of Christ but I will never forget you and you will be in my thoughts and prayers. You will always be a fond part of who I have become. Your influence on me will travel with me in time. It has been my honor and joy to be your partner in this ministry. We will always be connected by our faith.
