What are We Learning

Literacy

We will review the letters Q, R, and S this month. We will be reading Silly Sally and many Valentine’s Day books. We will also read “The Cat in the Hat.”

Math

The children will start the month counting hearts and graphing conversation hearts. We will also make rubber band shapes, sort coins, and write numbers in rice.

Physical

For fine motor, we will lace hearts, paint with Q-Tips, and make Quarter rubbings. For gross motor, the children will exercise, play Musical Hearts, and toss balloons in the Cat’s Hat.

Science

The children will use conversation hearts for STEM activities and make ducks quack in a duck pond.

Social/Emotional

The children will talk about who they love and what they would do if they were President. We will also do Heart Zoo Phonics, Play Right & Left, and Musical Hearts.

Enrichments

Monday: Science, Tuesday: Language, Wednesday: Life Skills, Thursday: Geography

• Week of February 10th: My Body, Love Monster, Germs, Utah
• Week of February 17th: My Body, Shape Names, Healthy Lifestyle, Colorado
• Week of February 24th: Pumping Heart Experiment, Name writing, Emotions, New Mexico

Important Dates

• February 4 – Dr. O Shaughnessy Dental Presentation from 9:30 am to 10:00 am
• February 14 – Valentine’s Day Exchange (Bring your child’s Valentine’s box)
• February 14 – Valentine’s Day Parent’s Night Out

Reminders

Please remember folders need to be brought to school EVERY Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Lending Library Books will be checked out on January 27 (returned February 3) and February 19 (returned February 26).
