Preschool 4s

It’s that time of year again; time for school to start! We are so excited to get to know our preschool friends and begin learning new and exciting things! We will start our school year off by learning facts about each other and ourselves and begin understanding the expectations of our classroom.

Literacy

This month we will be beginning to work with the letters A and B. We will start to learn our Zoophonics animals and actions which will help us to remember the letter names and the sounds that each of them make. We will have lots of read-alouds that will go along with the letter of the week.

Math

Throughout the month, we will be working on reviewing our shapes and making sure we know the names of each of them. We will also begin counting how many days we have been in school and we will practice our one-to-one correspondence for numerals 1-10. We will also be counting the letters in our names and the weather each day.

Fine Motor

During our Fine Motor center time, we will begin practicing tracing straight and curved lines, using a dot (not a lot) of bottle glue, and getting in lots of practice with our scissors. We will also start working on making sure that we can write our first names!

Art

During September, we will be getting chances to paint with many different painting utensils including Q-tips, pompoms, and marbles. We will also begin making our A and B projects that will be kept in our alphabet journal for the whole preschool year!
