Occasionally, members have notified us that they received a request via email or text with a vague request from Pastor Laura or asking them to purchase gift cards for the church. Please note that St. Philip’s will never ask you for gift cards and if Pastor Laura has a request, she will be specific. (From the most recent report, the email address of the sender was not Pastor Laura’s email address)

Gift cards have become one of the most popular payment methods for scammers as they’re easy to buy and share, hard to trace, and nearly impossible to refund once their balance has been spent. Only scammers will tell you to buy a gift card and give them the numbers off the back of the card.
